Highway Maintenance Worker/Helper – Summer Seasonal
Wage Range: $7.39 - $19.72 per hour (based on experience & training)

NOTE: This summer position is a wage position and does not provide State benefits. The Summer Seasonal program runs from 5/1/08 through 9/30/08.
DUTIES: Maintain and repair roads and right of way in the Northern Virginia area. Duties include operation/use of light equipment such as mowers and hand tools. Flag traffic, cut brush, clean ditches, hand mowing, trash pick-up and other manual labor activities. May be required to work scheduled night/weekend operations and during emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with light equipment operation and skill in the use of hand and power tools. Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding labor including heavy lifting up to 60 lbs. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work in a team and follow safety procedures. Ability to work well independently or as part of a team. Safety shoes required. Pre-Employment physical may be required. Currently enrolled in High School (junior/senior year) or High School graduate.
